First at Giugliano and Frattamaggiore, then at Pozzuoli

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 5 - Hospital evacuation tests in the volcanic Campi Flegrei area near Naples which has seen recent big seismic activity spurring fears of harm to people and property will start on Friday, ANSA sources said Thursday.
The tests are aimed at gauging the scenario in the event of a strong earthquake due to bradyseism or eruption, after the two recent quakes measuring 4.2 and 4.0 in magnitude that spooked residents.
On Friday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a rehearsal at the San Giuliano hospital in Giugliano and the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Frattamaggiore.
On Saturday, again from 11am to 1pm, there will be an evacuation test at the Santa Maria delle Grazie hospital in Pozzuoli.
The Campi Flegrei or Phlegrean Fields are a large area of supervolcanic calderas situated to the west of Naples, also featuring bradyseismic phenomena, where the earth shifts constantly.
Civil protection officials and local politicians have called for wide-scale evacuation plans for the area while some experts have said they are unfeasible given the high number of people living there, over half a million.
The chance of a major eruption there is slim but smaller eruptions and more tremors are widely expected. (ANSA).
