(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 12 - Newcastle Unite forward Sandro Tonali
and Aston Villa forward Niccolò Zaniolo were sent home Thursday
from Italy's training camp for Euro 2024 qualifers against Malta
and England after being quizzed in a betting probe involving
Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli.
Tonali and Zaniolo returned home at the end of the meeting with
the police at the Coverciano camp, ANSA sources said.
The two players "are not in a condition to face the commitments
of the next few days", soccer federation sources explained.
