(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 13 - Foreign Minister and Deputy Premier
Antonio Tajani arrived in Israel on Friday as part of efforts to
avoid an escalation of the war sparked by the Hamas terrorist
attack on the Jewish state at the weekend.
His first stop will be in southern Israel near the Gaza Strip
from where Saturday's surprise attack was launched.
There Tajani will meet Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and
visit places hit by Hamas rockets.
At the Italian embassy in Tel Aviv the foreign minister will
meet with relatives of the three Italo-Israeli citizens who are
missing and are thought to have been taken hostage by Hamas.
