(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 22 - Italy is keeping up contacts with
Qatar to help make sure there is no escalation of the
Israel-Hamas war with Hezbollah, Deputy Premier and Foreign
Minister Antonio Tajani told Italian TV Sunday.
In northern Israel, "so far there have been skirmishes, not a
real war, with Hezbollah attacks and Israeli responses," Tajani
told In mezz'ora on Rai 3.
"But the situation is tied to a thread and it is important that
it does not break, Qatar is working and we are in constant
contact.
"The Italian government is playing a leading role because we are
in contact with all the interlocutors to explain what our
position is."
On the crisis, "we are all working to avoid the escalation and
expansion of the conflict to Lebanon and Iran," the minister
stressed. (ANSA).
