(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 6 - A memorandum of understanding between
Italy and Albania on the management of migratory flows signed
Monday at the Italian premier's office at Palazzo Chigi,
official sources aid, does not apply to immigrants arriving on
Italian coasts and territory but to those rescued in the
Mediterranean by Italian ships, such as those of the Navy and
Finance Guard, but not those picked up by NGOs.
It does not apply to minors, pregnant women and vulnerable
people either, the sources said.
At the northwestern Albanian port of Shëngjin, the deal says,
Italy will handle disembarkation and identification procedures
and set up a first reception and screening centre.
In Gjader, also in north-western Albania, it will set up a
pre-removal centre (CPR) model structure for subsequent
procedures. (ANSA).
