Union demo a response to 'institutional bullies' - UIL

(see related) (ANSA) - ROME, NOV 17 - Pierpaolo Bombardieri, the secretary general of the UIL trade union, told a big rally in Rome's Piazza del Popolo square that the joint show of force with the CGIL was the best response to the government's injunction curtailing the general strike it is staging on Friday. "(The crowd in) this square is the democratic response of people who suffer, who have paid to be here (by foregoing wages to strike)," Bombardieri said.
    "It is a democratic response to institutional bullies.
    "It is necessary to respect workers". (ANSA).
