Pope did not use the word 'genocide' - Vatican spokesman

'There are 10 of us and we all heard it' says Palestinians

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 22 - Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni on Wednesday denied that Pope Francis used the term "genocide" during a meeting with a delegation of Palestinians with relatives living in Gaza.
"I am not aware that he used such a word," said Bruni.
"He used the words with which he expressed himself during the general audience and which in any case represent the terrible situation being experienced in Gaza," he added.
Bruni's clarification came after members of the Palestinian delegation claimed that the pope had recognised that the Palestinian people are undergoing "a genocide".
"There are ten of us and we all heard it," replied the Palestinians. (ANSA).
