(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 1 - Italian Davis Cup winning hero Jannik
Sinner has ended 2023 with the highest total of ATP points ever
recorded by an Italian, 6,490.
South Tyrolean Sinner, 22, has already risen to world number
four and has beaten 36-year-old Serb great and record 24 slam
winner Novak Djokovic twice recently, once in the Nitto ATP
Masters Finals group stage, after which he lost the final to
Djokovic, and again in the Davis semis.
Pundits have tipped the young star, who has equalled Adriano
Panatta's record high ranking in the last year Italy won the
cup, 1976, to win a slam next year. (ANSA).
