(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 2 - The funeral of Giulia Cecchettin, a
22-year-old Padua University biomedical engineering student
allegedly murdered by her 21-year-old ex boyfriend and classmate
Filippo Turetta, will take place in Padua on Tuesday, according
to epigraphs already posted Saturday morning in Vigonovo,
Giulia's nearby home town.
The last farewell to a young woman whose death has restored
femicide to the top of the national agenda will be given on
Tuesday 5 December, at 11.
The authorisation from the Prosecutor's Office to release her
body to the family, after Saturday's 14-hour autopsy, is
expected in the next few hours.
Santa Giustina is a church capable of holding thousands of
people, overlooking Prato della Valle, a vast square that allows
many to follow the ceremony, on maxi screens, even outside the
basilica.
Giulia bled to death from over 20 stand wounds allegedly by
Turetta, who has confessed to the murder and said in a nine-hour
interrogation Friday that something snapped in his head after he
refused to accept the end of their relationship. (ANSA).
