(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 3 - The father of Giulia Cecchettin, a 22-year-old Padua University biomedical engineering student murdered by her 21-year-old ex boyfriend and coursemate Filippo Turetta on November 11, said Sunday he hoped Tuesday's funeral in Padua would send a message of participation in the fight against femicide in Italy.
"We have chosen a large church so that a message of great participation will get through, we wanted it that way so that this message will get through", said Gino Cecchettin in front of his home in Vigonovo near Venice.
The funeral will be held at 11 am on Tuesday in the basilica of Santa Giustina in Padua, one of Europe's biggest places of worship and one of its largest squares, able to accommodate the thousands of mourners and anti-femicide activists expected that day.
"I am preparing a written message that I will read on that day,' Cecchettin added.
"I am not good with words, ask me about electronics if anything ... but I am trying to say things as best I can". (ANSA).
