(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 20 - Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said
Wedesday he was "happy" that the new European Stability and
Growth Pact agreed at ECOFIN excluded defence spending from
calculation of the budget targets.
"I am happy that Italy's position has been acknowledged and that
defence investments have been considered a relevant factor for
exclusion from the calculation of the budget targets,£ said
Crosetto, thanking Premier Giorgia Meloni and Economy Minister
Giancarlo Giorgetti "for the great result obtained in the
redefinition of the European rules and parameters for the coming
years".
"At a difficult time like this it was right to free up resources
for health, welfare, taxation and business competitiveness,
without giving up on security.
"Our teamwork and the seriousness of our positions have been
crowned with success," he added. (ANSA).
