(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 10 - The president of the Union of Italian
Jewish Communities, Noemi Di Segni, on Wednesday appealed to
government and the institutions to condemn the Fascist salute
made by hundreds of participants at the Acca Larentia ceremony
in Rome on Sunday and strengthen existing laws to curb
neoFascism.
"I absolutely appeal to all those holding positions in
government and in the institutions to condemn that gesture and
link it to a dangerous nostalgia," said Di Segni.
"Even today that gesture has meaning. It is not just historical
re-enactment," she continued, appealing for every effort to be
taken to "narrate, report and curb it" for what it is.
"For a very long time, we have been calling for the regulations
concerning the nostalgia for neoFascism to be strengthened,"
concluded Di Segni. (ANSA).
