(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 23 - Inter claimed the Italian Super Cup
for the third consecutive season on Monday when they beat Napoli
1-0 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, thanks to Argentina forward Lautaro
Martinez's stoppage-time goal.
Serie A champions Napoli had to play most of the second half in
10 men after forward Giovanni Simeone was sent off for a second
yellow card.
It is the eighth time in total that Inter have won the Super
Cup, traditionally a match between the Italian Cup winners and
the Serie A champions, although this season a four-team format
was introduced featuring the runners-up of both competitions
too.
Inter boss Simone Inzaghi, meanwhile, clinched a record fifth
Italian Super Cup as coach after also winning the trophy twice
when he was in charge of Lazio. (ANSA).
