(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 4 - A 106-year-old Italian former war
veteran was back on his feet two days after an operation on a
broken leg, local media in Venice reported Sunday.
Antonio Bragato, who spent time in a German internment camp for
Italian soldiers during the Second World War, will be back home
soon after the op at Portogruaro, they said.
"Surgeries involving ultra centenarians are very few in number,"
said orthopaedics chief Stefano Saggin.
"On this occasion we came across areal force of nature, from
both the physical and medical standpoint. Signor Bragato was
determined not to give up his mobility for a mere fracture to
his femur" (ANSA).
