Necessary to participate in Red Sea mission says Meloni

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 5 - It is both useful and necessary for Italy to take part in the new EU Aspides mission to protect Red Sea shipping from Houthi attacks, Premier Giorgia Meloni said on a visit to Tokyo Monday.
    "We are taking part in a defensive mission, it is useful, it is right and I am happy that Italy is taking command of this mission as a demonstration of our recognised role, and I think it is strategic for Europe and Italy," she said. (ANSA).
