(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 21 - A Milan appeals court on Wednesday sentenced a 45-year-old Milanese banker to life in prison for killing his 26-year-old ex girlfriend and adult-film actress near Milan in January 2022.
The man, Davide Fontana, was found guilty of murdering Carol Maltesi in her home at Rescaldina on January 11 that year, hitting her on the head with a hammer and then cutting her throat, before chopping up her body and disposing of it near Brescia.

The remains of Maltesi, who went by the stage name Charlotte Angie, were found in black bags in Borno on March 21, 2022.

Fontana, also a neighbour of the victim, said he initially kept the body in a freezer, chopped it up and then threw it down a precipice.

Fontana told police he and Maltesi had been playing an erotic game that went wrong, after which he hit her with a hammer "and lost control".

Maltesi described herself on social media thus: "Charlotte Angie is a 25-year-old half Italian, half Dutch girl who has always dreamed big and is never satisfied".

In a video filmed in 2020, she said "I support women against violence".

Her beautician Sefora told reporters "she was a beautiful girl, fragile and sensitive, who suffered greatly because her son was so far away from her", referring to the fact that the boy lived in Amsterdam with his father. "It was her dream to go and live in the Netherlands," said Sefora.
In the court of first instance, last year, Fontana was given a 30-year sentence, which prosecutors appealed.

This time around the appeals court recognised the aggravating factors of premeditation and cruelty, spelling life for the banker.
