(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 23 - Justice Undersecretary Andrea
Ostellari said Friday that the government has not given
permission for Italian prisons to allow conjugal visits after
reports that Padua's Due Palazzi jail was going to set up 'love
rooms' on a trial basis.
"There is no specific authorization for the Due Palazzi Prison
in Padua or any other institution in Italy for the so-called
love rooms," Ostellari said.
"After the Constitutional Court has ruled on the matter, a
taskforce will be set up to study the issue in depth.
"Any possible initiatives will be taken by the Penitentiary
Administration Department... Prisons need seriousness, not
propaganda". (ANSA).
