(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 25 - Centre-left opposition Democratic
Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein on Sunday paid homage to the 94
victims of the shipwreck at Cutro in Calabria on February 26
last year that killed 94 migrants including 35 minors.
Together with the fishermen who were the first to rescue
migrants off the Summer Love boat that broke apart on rocks in
rough seas just off the coast, Schlein laid a wreath on the
beach and spent several minutes in silence, avoiding
journalists' questions.
There will be official ceremonies with government officials
marking the exact d ate of the anniversary on Monday. (ANSA).
