(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 29 - The advisor of Ukrainian President
Volodymir Zelensky on Wednesday thanked the Holy See for its
"fruitful" humanitarian work in relation to Moscow's war of
invasion including the return of Ukrainian children who had been
deported to Russia.
"A big thank you goes to a the representatives of the Holy See"
for their "fruitful work", Mykhailo Podolyak told Catholic daily
Avvenire, referring to the mission of the president of the
Italian Bishops' Conference Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, the Pope's
envoy for peace in Ukraine.
"Russia is totally indifferent to the fate of people and
children, so it is certainly very positive that the Vatican has
joined us," he added.
Last May Pope Francis gave Zuppi the task of identifying
initiatives that might open up paths to peace in Ukraine.
So far the mission has taken him to Kyiv, Moscow, Washington DC
and Beijing. (ANSA).
