(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 19 - Premier Giorgia Meloni said Tuesday
that she thinks the revelations of alleged snooping on Italian
public figures via illegal access to State databased that have
emerged from a probe by Perugia prosecutors are just the tip of
the iceberg.
"I am absolutely convinced that what we know the tip of the
iceberg," Meloni told Rai television when asked about the probe
into a suspected rogue tax cop who allegedly spied on many
public figures, including mostly rightwing politicians and some
celebrities including rapper Fedex and soccer great Cristiano
Ronaldo.
"More than worried, I am very indignant about something that has
been hovering.
"We have seen it, in particular in this year, with things coming
out like the clockwork on newspaper pages.
"I think we have to get to the bottom of it, I think the issue
is much broader.
"I think there are powerful groups that have used confidential
information to serve their own interests.
"I think it is not acceptable for this to happen in Italy, we
have to get to the bottom of it.
"We have to get to the bottom of who is responsible and, above
all, who is behind it". (ANSA).
