(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 21 - Six Indian citizens have been fined
for turning a public park into a cricket field in northern
Italy.
Traffic cops fined the six at Montecchio Maggiore nrear Vicenza
after they dug out wickets and put a canvas sheet over the pitch
as well as preventing the grass from getting too long.
The men have been fined and ordered to pay damages to the local
council.
"In order to use public land an authorisation is indispensable,"
said Mayor Gianfranco Trapula, "and necessary also to practise
sporting activity in safety.
"In the case of the park they ran the concrete risk of affecting
pedestrians, cyclists or cars". (ANSA).
