(ANSA) - ROME, APR 22 - Serie A strugglers Udinese said Monday that they have put Fabio Cannavaro in charge until the end of the season after sacking coach Gabriele Cioffi.
The Udine side are fourth-from-bottom, level on 28 points with third-from-bottom Frosinone, after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Hellas Verona.
Italy's 2006 World Cup-winning captain and Ballon d'Or winner has signed a contract until the end of June and will be in charge for five matches plus the 19 minutes remaining of the match against Roma, which was suspended with the score at 1-1 because Roma defender Evan Ndicka had a band turn.
Cannavaro's backroom staff will feature his brother, former Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro. (ANSA).
