Salis plea for house arrest in Italy possible

Framework law from European Council but norms not entirely clear

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 15 - Italian authorities may ask their Hungarian counterparts for Ilaria Salis to be moved to house arrest in Italy after the antifascist on trial for attacking neoNazis last year saw her request for house arrest in Budapest after 15 months in jail granted on Wednesday, Italian government sources said.
However, the jurisprudence on this matter is not completely clear, they stressed, despite there being a framework law by the European Council.
Such a plea may be stymied by the fact that she has not received a definitive sentence but has only been put on trial, they said.
