(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 17 - Journalist and writer Franco di Mare
died of cancer Friday.
Naples-born Di Mare, 68, revealed on live TV a month ago that he
had been fighting mesothelioma, a cancer that affects the lining
of the chest and lungs.
The former war correspondent for state broadcaster Rai said he
had inhaled asbestos fumes in conflict zones.
Rai voiced "great grief" over his passing and said he had been a
passionate reporter, investigative show presenter and news
editor. (ANSA).
