In major Liguria graft probe

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 21 - Liguria Governor Giovanni Toti, under house arrest in a probe into alleged fraud and corruption, will be questioned by prosecutors in Genoa on Thursday May 23, sources said Tuesday.
Toti last Thursday reiterated his innocence and said he would be able to show his management of the northwestern Italian region was clean.
The case regards alleged bribes in which cash for an election campaign was exchanged for favours, including the extension of a port terminal concession.
Like Toti, logistics businessman Aldo Spinelli - the former chairman of Genoa and Livorno soccer clubs - was put under house arrest last Tuesday, while former Genoa Port Authority President Paolo Signorini was placed under custody in jail. (ANSA).
