(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 23 - The European Commission has launched
infringement proceedings against Italy for failing to 'fully and
correctly' transpose the single-use plastics directive and for
breaching its obligations under single market transparency
rules.
Brussels on Thursday sent a letter of formal notice to Italy,
the first step in the procedure.
Rome now has two months to respond and remedy the shortcomings
identified.
In the absence of a satisfactory response, the Commission may
decide to move forward in the legal procedure by sending a
reasoned opinion. (ANSA).
