(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 30 - The mayor of Favignana has issued an
order banning people from walking around the town centre on the
Sicilian island in bikinis or in swimming trunks while
shirtless.
People face fines of between 25 and 150 euros if they fail to
comply.
"We are committed to ensuring that Favignana remains a
welcoming, dignified destination for all visitors and
residents," said Mayor Francesco Forgione.
"Our community deserves respectful public spaces.
"I trust in everyone's collaboration to respect these rules,
which do not aim to limit individual freedom but to promote
civil co-existence".
Seaside areas are excluded from the ban. (ANSA).
