'Several cops hurt' in Bologna anti-tram protest

Activists attack police with sticks and stones

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 20 - Several police were reported injured after clashes with protesters demonstrating against the construction of a new tram route in Bologna Thursday.
    After mounting tensions all morning, police baton-charged the activists protesting against the tram construction sites in the Emilian capital.
    The protesters reportedly attacked the police, who were trying to defend workers, throwing sticks and stones at them, and the officers reacted with baton charges.
    Four protesters were detained.
    The officers received emergency medical treatment on the spot.
