(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 25 - President Sergio Mattarella on
Tuesday hailed CONSOB in a message to Chairman Paolo Savona for
the stock-market regulator's 50th anniversary.
"Ensuring the proper functioning and stability of the markets
through the containment of risks and through regulation and
supervision of markets and related infrastructure with high
technical content is a fundamental activity in order to increase
the confidence of savers, the protection of investors, remove
barriers to access for businesses, particularly small and
medium-sized ones and, therefore, to increase growth and support
the competitiveness of the country's economic system," the head
