(see related) (ANSA) - ROME, JUN 26 - Italy, Hungary and Slovakia have so far failed to give their approval to the agreement reportedly reached by the EPP, the socialist and liberal groups on the EU top jobs, European sources said on Wednesday.
"So far there are three countries that have not given their consent to the agreement on the appointments: Giorgia Meloni's Italy, Viktor Orban's Hungary and Robert Fico's Slovakia," a senior European diplomat said on the eve of the European Council at which the leaders will be called upon to approve the agreement on the top jobs.
"We hope to be able to bring Meloni on board as well," the diplomat added, saying that there had been "many contacts" between the leaders of EU27 States to get to an agreement described as "very well-balanced". (ANSA).
