(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 27 - A gay couple say they were refused a
flat in Modena after the owner allegedly told the estate agent
that he "wanted a family".
Modenese art director Alessandro Manfredini said he and his
20-year partner were refused the apartment they wanted to rent,
and when he asked why, the realtor replied: "the owner wants a
family".
Manfredini queried "sorry, but what does the gentleman mean by a
family," to which he was told "a man and a woman and if possible
also a child".
The art director added: "I won't tell you what I said to that
because I would be banned from social media forever if I did".
Modena Mayor Massimo Mezzetti said the incident reported by La
Gazzetta di Modena was "unacceptable". (ANSA).
