No isolation of Italy on EU appointments says Tajani

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 28 - There was "no isolation" of Italy in EU talks on top jobs, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Friday.
    Former German defence minister Ursula von der Leyen was nominated for a second term as European Commission head, ex Portuguese premier Antonio Costa as new European Council chair, and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas in a deal among the pro-European majority force ahead of this week's EU summit, with Meloni not consulted.
    She went on to abstain on von der Leyen and vote against Costa and Kallas.
    Tajani said "a clear distinction emerged between relations between parties and relations between countries, so there was no isolation of Italy, if we want to make an objective analysis.
    "Then, as far as the political choices are concerned, I too did not agree with the method and correctly, the Prime Minister took our position into account when she announced her abstention on Ursula von der Leyen". (ANSA).
