RN says not burned bridges with Meloni

National considerations to be reckoned with says MEP

(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 8 - An MEP from France's National Rally (RN) said Monday that Marine Le Pen's far right party had not burned its bridges with Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, a friend and ally of Le Pen's.
"There are national considerations to do in each of the two countries," said Jean-Paul Garraud, speaking on behalf of RN President Jordan Bardella at the launch conference for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's new Patriots for Europe group, of which Bardella will be caucus leader.
"The group is not a monolith but there are nuances in various spheres because we are part of a nationalist group, we respect each State's sovereignty," said Garraud after the Patriots became the third biggest European Parliament caucus behind the centre-right European People's Party (EPP) and the Socialists and Democrats (S&D), with 84 members, six more than Meloni's Conservatives and Reformists (ECR).
"At the same time that doesn't mean that we have burned our bridges, things evolve and they evolve in good sense". (ANSA).
