(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 4 - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani on Sunday afternoon summoned an online meeting of
G7 foreign ministers.
Tajani is the group's coordinator and has urged colleagues to
discuss at a very delicate time for the military crisis in the
Middle East.
According to well-informed sources, Tajani was set to ask
counterparts for an update, in particular US Secretary of State
Antony Blinken.
The idea is to agree on political and diplomatic actions that
could avoid a more generalized military clash across the whole
region, the sources said.
On Saturday, Tajani had asked the foreign ministry's secretary
general, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, to convey his call to
the leadership and all authorities of Iran against an
escalation. (ANSA).
