(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 4 - A video of Olympic swimming champion
Thomas Ceccon sleeping outdoors on a lawn at the Olympic village
in Paris has become viral following a controversy over
accomodation for athletes.
The video, posted by Saudi rower Husein Alireza, prompted the
Italian swimming federation FIN to deny it had anything to do
with living conditions at the Olympic Village.
"It was just a nap", FIN said, noting it was filmed during the
day.
Ceccon had previously complained about the situation experienced
by athletes at the village, saying food and transportation were
far from excellent.
Another Italian swimmer, Gregorio Paltrinieri, who qualified for
the 1,500 freestyle finals on Saturday, also complained he
didn't sleep well because there was no air conditioning, calling
the village the "worse I have ever experienced", and noting that
"athletes are not safeguarded". (ANSA).
