(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 5 - A 33-year-old man died while working
in a farm in the countryside of Palagiano near the southern city
of Taranto.
The worker was using an immersion pump, according to preliminary
reports.
His brother was also injured in the incident and was taken to
the nearby hospital of Castellaneta and later transferred to the
hospital of Brindisi with severe burns.
The father of the two men, who are both electricians, works with
them but was not present when the incident took place.
Carabinieri police have opened an investigation.
A reported 469 people have been killed in work accidents in
Italy in the first semester of this year, up 4.2% compared to
the same period in 2023, according to workplace accidents
insurance agency INAIL. (ANSA).
