Paris: Italy protagonist of world sport says Malagò

More golds and silvers than Tokyo, more quality says CONI chief

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 11 - Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) President Giovanni Malagò told a the press conference at Casa Italia taking stock of the Paris 2024 Olympics Sunday that Italy had shown itself to be a protagonist of world sport at the Games in the French capital that end Sunday.
    "The 40 medals won are confirmation of Italy's leading role in the world sports scene. We are perhaps the most multidisciplinary country," he told reporters.
    Malagò pointed out that they are the same medals as Tokyo 2020, but with two more golds (12 against 10) and three more silvers (13 against 10).
    "There is more quality," Malagò highlighted.
    "We have increased the number of finals reached: 79 compared to 67. We went to medal in 20 sports." (ANSA).
