(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 12 - Sardinia in 2023 was among Italy's
top five regions chosen as the destination of a long holiday,
lasting at least four nights, according to a study published on
Monday by the Sardinian chapter of artisans association
Confartigianato based on ISTAT data.
In terms of the presence of tourists, the island ranked 14th
with 3.2% while Lazio led the ranking with 10.2%, followed by
Campania with 4.6% and Sicily with 3.7%, according to data in
the dossier "Towards the summer of 2024", drafted by
Confartigianato Sardinia and based on figures on last year's
tourist season released by national statistics bureau Istat.
Overall, the dossier found that, considering the "totality of
holidays spent in Italy", the most popular region was Emilia
Romagna (12% of tourists), followed by Tuscany (9%) and Trentino
(8%).
Among the regions chosen for "holidays lasting four or more
nights", Emilia Romagna again ranked at the top (11%), followed
by Puglia (8,9%), Trentino (8,5%), Calabria (8,5%) and Sardinia
with l'8,2%.
Foreign tourists instead mainly chose Bolzano with 70.5%, Veneto
with 69.3% and Lazio with 63.7%. (ANSA).
