(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 14 - Italy's heat red alert cities will
fall from 22 Wednesday to 21 Thursday, the Ferragosto holiday,
and 16 Friday, the health ministry said Wednesday.
A red alert means the heat is so intense it is a threat to
healthy people and not just vulnerable groups.
The cities remaining on maximum alert Friday will be Genoa,
Turin, Cagliari, Catania, Civitavecchia, Messina, Milan,
Pescara, Reggio Calabria, Rieti, and Viterbo, the ministry said.
Weather people say Ferragosto will see a drop in temperatures,
which have neared 40 degrees in Itally's long heatwave, of
two-three degrees. (ANSA).
