Alleged San Candido killer shot himself

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 18 - A 50-year-old man accused of double murder in the northern city of San Candido, in Alto Adige, shot himself while special police forces were breaking into his apartment, investigative sources said Sunday.
    He is reportedly in serious condition.
    The man first shot at Carabinieri police's GIS special forces who had entered the apartment and then shot himself in the throat, the sources said.
    GIS forces broke into the apartment in which he had barricaded himself after allegedly killing a woman and the father.
    In the apartment, officers found the lifeless body of the man's 90-year-old dad.
    The murder is believed to have been committed at around midnight.
    The identity of the woman has not been released.
    She lived in the apartment building where the murders were committed. (ANSA).
