(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 19 - World number one Jannik Sinner on
Sunday defeated Germany's Alexander Zverev in three sets 7-6
(11-9), 5-7, 7-6 in the semifinals of the Masters 1000 in
Cincinnati to reach the final - becoming the first Italian
player to achieve this result.
The 23-year-old Italian had lost all four of his previous
matches against Zverev but fought through a hip problem to
advance to the final.
Sinner will face US player Frances Tiafoe on Monday in hopes of
winning his fifth ATP tour title this season. (ANSA).
