(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 20 - World number one Jannik Sinner beat
Francis Tiafoe in two sets in the Cincinnati Open final to claim
his fifth title of the season.
The 23-year-old Italian tennis star, who has been struggling
with a hip problem, won 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 in one hour and 36
minutes.
"I'm happy, it's been a hard week", he said after the victory.
"This match was mentally difficult.
"We were both coming from long semifinals, with a lot of
tension.
"I'm happy about my performance, how I managed the game and the
whole week", he said.
Sinner went on to say that he had "many ups and downs this
week".
"Now, it's important to be ready for New York, for the US Open"
opening on August 26.
"It's our main objective for this part of the season in North
America, I hope I can show some beautiful tennis in Flushing
Meadows", said the player. (ANSA).
