Afa to return for re-entry from holidays

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 23 - The extremely hot and muggy conditions called 'afa' are set to return for this weekend's 'grande rientro' return from holiday for many Italians, when the nation's motorways will be clogged.
    The government has issued a 'red dot' warning for traffic jams and extreme heat.
    It says the weekend will be characterised by generally good weather conditions with clear or slightly cloudy skies over most of the regions, but intense afa.
    There is also the possibility of a few quick and intense thunderstorms in the central Apennines and central-northern Sicily, though the risk will be rare in the Alps. (ANSA).
