(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 24 - Italian pensions now outstrip salaries in the country, economic think tank CGIA of Mestre said Saturday.
In Southern Italy more pensions are paid than salaries, but within a few years they are destined to overtake them in the rest of Italy as well, said CGIA.
According to some forecasts, it said, by 2028 2.9 million Italians are destined to leave the labour market due to age limits, 2.1 million of whom are currently employed in the central-northern regions, who will be difficult to replace given the serious demographic crisis underway.
According to the data, the most 'unbalanced' province in Italy is Lecce: the difference is -97 thousand.
It is followed by Naples, Messina, Reggio Calabria and Palermo.
