Crew didn't have enough time amid extreme-weather event

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 27 - The former commander of the Bayesian said Tuesday British tech tycoon Mike Lynch's superyacht was "beyond operational limits" when it sank in a freak storm killing Lynch and six others near Palermo last Monday.
The hatch on the port side was "100 per cent not open"; with a 45-degree angle and the engine room vents open, the boat can have "serious problems" and "start taking on water"; there was no requirement to keep the centreboard down; with a sudden change in the weather conditions, the crew had a "short time to react" said the ex skipper, Stephen Edwards, in a post on Linkedin.
Off the coast of Porticiello, added the man who commanded the sailing ship from 2015 to 2020, the Bayesian went "beyond its operational limits" when it was hit by an extreme-weather event called a downburst. (ANSA).
