(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 28 - Termini Imerese prosecutors have
placed a second person under investigation in connection with
the shipwreck of the Bayesian, ship engineer Tim Parker Eaton,
one of 10 crew members of the luxury yacht that sank off the
coast of Porticello, near Palermo, on August 19, investigative
sources said on Wednesday.
He is the second crew member to be placed under investigation
after the yacht's capitain James Cutfield, who pleaded no
contest and declined to reply to questions from prosecutors on
Tuesday.
Seven people died in the incident, including the vessel's owner,
British tycoon Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah.
Parker Eaton is being probed on charges of suspected multiple
negligent manslaughter and causing a shipwreck for possibly
failing to activate security systems to close the boat's hatches
and doors, which could have caused the engine room to flood,
provoking a black out and allegedly contributing to the
shipwreck (ANSA).
