(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 29 - Now set to play at the Villaggio
Italia, set up in Tokyo to mark the arrival of the Amerigo
Vespucci ship, is the Giuseppe Verdi String Quartet, within the
framework of the activities supported by the tourism ministry
and Italian Tourism Agency ENIT.
Riccardo Muti has entrusted the performance to the musicians
from the Tokyo Spring Festival Orchestra, which he has conducted
for years in symphonic and opera concerts on the occasion of the
Festival, but also to the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy.
During the two weeks of rehearsals of his academy, the maestro
will transmit his method of opera preparation to singers,
orchestra and young conductors selected from all over the world,
but also to the public, who can attend the sessions (this year
in Tokyo from September 3 to 16).
In this way music can break down any barriers and unite in
harmony cultures and countries that are different from one
another and far away geographically. And so the string quartet
of the great Tokyo orchestra can give voice to one of our most
famous composers, with a wholly Italian interpretation,
assimilated through Riccardo Muti's rehearsals and anecdotes in
the long professional and emotional relationship that links the
Maestro to this orchestra and this country.
It is an event that, giving voice to one of the most famous
Italian composers, is aimed at promoting the valorisation and
teaching of Italian opera in all parts of the world.

its richness and mastery, finds in this concert an opportunity
to be celebrated and diffused.
"Italian opera is a symbol of creativity and innovation, and its
promotion abroad helps boost Italy's image as a cultural and
artistic epicentre. These moments become at the same time a
highly strategic engine for Italy, drawing tourists who,
starting with music, discover the Italian tourism offering in
its various forms," said Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè.
