George Clooney thanks Biden for selflessness in Venice

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 1 - Hollywood star George Clooney on Sunday said he was excited for the future and praised President Joe Biden for stepping down as the Democratic presidential candidate in favour of Kamala Harris, speaking at the Venice Film Festival about the electoral campaign in the US.
    Clooney, who penned an op-ed in The New York Times published on July 10 saying he loved Biden but the Democratic Party needed another nominee, said the US president had been selfless in renouncing as leaving power is difficult.
    "What should be remembered is the selfless act of someone who did the hardest thing to do", he noted, adding the Times's campaign to ask Biden to pull out of the race had a great impact.
    Clooney was in the lagoon city with Brad Pitt to present Wolfs by Jon Watt, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday. (ANSA).
