Three arrested over alleged gang rape

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 2 - Three men have been arrested after a 23-year-old woman reported to authorities that they had raped her in the night of 30-31 August in the countryside around Massafra near Taranto.
    The 23-year-old went to the hospital, where she reported the rape.
    The men aged 23, 27 and 34 were arrested on charges of group sexual violence, the local Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno reported on Monday.
    Investigators say the woman was returning home Saturday after a night out with two friends, a woman and a man, at around 2 in the morning when they were approached by a car with the three men on board, one of whom was acquainted with the group, who offered them a lift.
    The men first took the couple home and then drove the young woman to the countryside and raped her, according to the victim's account. (ANSA).
