(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 3 - Workplace accident deaths were up 3.2%
to 577 in the first seven months of 2024, workplace accident
insurance agency INAIL said Tuesday.
The number of accident reports in the first seven months of 2024
was 350,823 (+1.7% compared to July 2023 and -20.5% compared to
the same period in 2022), with the most significant increase for
accidents occurring on the road.
The incidence on the total of employed (Istat provisional data)
is down compared to 2019 for both accidents (-10.6%) and deaths
(-7.3%), while compared to 2023 it is -0.4% for the former and
+0.8% for the latter.
There was a 22.6% increase in reported occupational diseases,
which amounted to 54,471.
Successive governments have taken action to stem a spate of
workplace deaths in Italy but the spate goes on. (ANSA).
